Peking Duck in Hong Kong

I love to travel! I love introducing my kids to new experiences. I prefer spending money on experiences and traveling to new places than buying the latest car/gadget/clothing etc… From my perspective I have only 10 years with my kids before they are off to college to see the world. So, for the next 10 years, I want to create as many memories as possible so they look back at their childhood with fond memories. Also, as they get older, I want them to come back home and spend time with the old boring parents because it is fun vs. coming from a sense of obligation.

So, this past summer, the family spent a few days in Hong Kong! We had the time of our lives. We ate at yummy Michelin 1 Star and Michelin 2 Stars. One night we introduced the kids to Peking Duck. My 8 year old daughter loved it from the start. My hesitant 5 year old boy took a lot of convincing, but he soon became a fan.

Since we were in HK, we decided to end our trip with an amazing Peking Duck vs the OK first Peking duck.

So, I called and made reservations for THE WHOLE DUCK at the 2 star Yan To Heen at the Intercontinental. When we took the kids there, they were given strict instructions to act 2- star worthy or they will not be eating out for the rest of the year. Boy! Did they behave! They were perfect.

Don’t they look perfect?

The decor is gorgeous at this place. The view of the Hong Kong island isn’t too bad either. After we sat down and had our drinks.  The view of the Hong Kong Our waiter came by with the duck table side and started gently slicing the thin crispy skin off.

The Peking duck was flawlessly executed. The condiments were superb. Once our server sliced the skin. We were given wrappers with several condiments to choose from. We all had our favorites. They even brought out the spicy sauces for us. We had our pick from garlic, papaya sticks, spring onion, pineapple, cucumber, and bell peppers.

It was the best Peking Duck I have had so far. Once we were done eating the skin. They took away the duck and brought out our second course – Duck Noodles.

The end was this beautiful dessert platter.

Interestingly there many other kids dinning at the restaurant, but you couldn’t tell unless you looked at the tables. The kids were well behaved.

What a perfect way and a perfect view to end our last night of summer vacation.
